G-1 League announces Dota 2 League with $52,000 prize pool!

When it comes to eSports it comes as no surprise that China are a major player and with the announcement of the G-1 League switching to and a massive prize pool the equivalent of $52,000. The potential of in China is immense and this is an exciting development which should showcase some of the best from the region. The tournament will consist of ten teams with five already announced. The tournament will run from the middle of October to the middle of November and will consist of an online phase and offline finals.

What makes this announcement even more special is the fact that the matches are going to be streamed in both Chinese and English to appeal to the international audience. The Chinese stream will be provided on the fengyunzhibo client by Wu ‘2009’ Sheng, Shen ‘Crystal’ Jiaqi and Pikaxiu. The English stream will be available on the same client and provided by David ‘Godz’ Parker and David ‘LD’ Gorman

The prize structure is as follows;

  • Winner: 180,000 RMB (~$28,000)
  • 2nd place: 60,000 RMB (~$9,000)
  • 3rd place: 50,000 RMB (~$8,000)
  • 4th place: 40,000 RMB (~$6,300)
