WCG Asia with 6000 USD Dota 2 tournament
Now that the World Cyber Games National Qualifiers are starting again, Malaysian publisher for Valve Games, e-club Malaysia, has announced that the World Cyber Games Asian Championship will feature Dota 2.
The tournament will be separated into two tournaments, which being held in the National Convention Hall of Kuala Lumpur on 7th September, where at first eight invited Malaysian teams fight for a spot inside the Asian Championship, but also for being representing Malaysia at this year’s WCG Grand Finals.
On 8th and 9th September the winner of the Malaysian Qualifier will then join 12 teams of other Asian National Finals and are competing for a 6000 USD prize money pool.
Along with StarCraft II, WarCraft III, Crossfire, FIFA12, the appearance of Dota2 does not surprise too much, but many considered League of Legends or even the previous DotA edition to be more likely to be picked. While Dota 2 has made it into the Official PC Games list, the former DotA will only be played as treated as promotional title.
The Grand Finals of the World Cyber Games 2012 are being held in Kushan, China from 29th November to 2nd December 2012.
