StarCraft II loses Jinro to Poker

Jonathan Walsh, better known as , has announced his retirement from StarCraft II. May come shocking to some, but it was also expectable seeing his results in the last months. Since he was 13 he wanted to move to South Korea, which he managed years later.

Jonathan has been a part of from the very beginning, Europe and everyone outside of South Korea will have him in memory as the foreigner who dared to participate in the prestigious GSL and showed amazing matches throughout his time. Jinro had probably the whole globe on his side and cheering for him online, which at one point made him a trending topic on twitter.

Already during the time in StarCraft: Broodwar, Jonathan took a longer break as there were no real competitions going on. There were World Cyber Games, but for Swedes it was impossible to participate in such qualifier. This was the moment he already fell a little in love with Poker.

After reaching the semi finals in GSL twice, Jonathan was lacking motivation, was not practicing as hard as before, but according to him still more than most players out there. In May 2011, he lost his Code S status in the GSL and there he already told his manager about these thoughts to retire soon.

Now Jonathan will focus on Poker, which has been done by many professional retiring players. He wrote his summary on teamliquid.net, which is a very interesting read.
